Current retail price levels are 51 cents over the 3-year average for the month of August. Boneless chops climbed 14 cents higher or +3.1% to $4.60/lb, bringing boneless chops +2.9% or 13 cents over last year. Bone-in chops slipped 6 cents or -1.3% to $4.56/lb, bringing the cut +5.4% or 23 cents over year ago levels.
- Wholesale loins values were up $0.95 to $104.77/cwt or +0.9% from the previous month, and -9.8% or $11.39/cwt under last year.
- All retail hams rose 13 cents or +3.2% to $4.21/lb for August, bringing hams 47 cents or +12.4% over year ago levels. Current retail price levels are 68 cents over the 3-year average for the month of August. Boneless ham climbed 6 cents or +1.2% to $5.35/lb on the month, bringing the cut 66 cents or +14.2% over last year.
- Wholesale ham values averaged $108.40/cwt which was down a modest $0.47 or -0.4% from July, and are $22.58 higher or +26.3% over year ago levels. For comparison wholesale picnics averaged $87.15/cwt, up $2.80 or +3.3% for August however are $4.31 or -4.7% under last year.
- The category reporting other retail pork prices edged 1 cent or -0.3% lower to $3.63/lb, bringing other pork 16 cents or +4.6% over last year. Current levels are 56 cents over the 3-year average for the month of August.
