According to the latest report, feeder pig demand is steady-to-weak for moderate offerings. For comparison, demand for the same period last year were considered moderate on moderate offerings.

Early weaned cash prices (10-12 pounds) for the weekending Jun 2nd at $10.03/head, slipped 2 cents on the week and are $30.70/head under a year earlier. Current early wean cash prices continue at lows not recorded since the period of April through July 2020, and previously late-spring & mid-summer periods in 2012, 2009 & 2008.

Formula early weans (10-12 lbs) for the same week were reported at $35.86/head, up $4.58 from the previous week but $5.78/head under the same week in 2022.

The category accounting for 40-pound feeder pig cash prices reported a weighted average of $41.20/head in the weekending Jun 2nd, down shy of $3 on the week and $31.65/head under last year. Current prices are considered lower than mid-range historically (10-years, 2013-current).
